Eamonn (Edward J.) Coffey grew up in Ireland where he attended school & college and played Gaelic football & Rugby. In 1970, he moved to an engineering job in upstate New York. After playing rugby there for a year, he moved to South Carolina where he discovered long distance running. His life has not been the same since. Over the years, he has run more than 50,000 miles and finished more than 500 road races. These included 38 marathons, four of which were Boston Marathons. He feels long distance running is one of the most positive, life affirming, things he has done in his time on this planet. He thinks there are few better feelings than finishing a long distance run or race and knowing you have given it the best you’ve got.
